Located in Chester County PA, about 25 miles west of Philladelphia, Malvern is a borough with a population of 3,419 as of 2020. According to the US Census Bureau, Malvern covers a total of 1.2 square miles of land. 

The Malvern area was originally settled by Welsh immigrants who bought land from William Penn in the 17th century. For a long time a church, railroad, and a few business made up the nucleus of the town. At this point the community was known as West Chester Intersection because of its position at a railroad junction. The name was changed to Malvern when one of the railroads straightened its tracks, making so it no longer ran through the village. 

The borough of Malvern was officially incorporated on August 13, 1889. Today it has a mix of residential styles and nieghborhoods, retail and industrial businesses, dedicated open land, and numerous civic, cultural, and religious organizations.

Welcome to the Borough of Malvern! We are a unique, small town village located in southeast Pennsylvania, approx. 25 miles west of Philadelphia. The Borough is 1.3 square miles and has a population of approximately 3,000. Malvern has experienced significant growth over the past few years and continues to see tremendous revitalization in both the residential and commercial districts. Funding for the revitalization has been a partnership between the Borough government and the County of Chester.

Malvern dates back to the Victorian era and continues to reflect this in the Victorian facades found in the business district, the Victorian street lamps and the brick pavers. Residents and businesses continue to be attracted to Malvern. Businesses are thriving!
